An exhibition of the best 25 photos on “Emerging Roots” that were selected by the great Magnum’s photographer, Martin Parr of Photometria Festival 2023. Organized by: Photometria – International Photography Festival Critic: Martin Parr Photography has always been associated with memory. Especially at the beginning of the medium, a photograph not only brought back loved ones to our memory, but often replaced them as a physical presence. Having the image of someone you had the feeling that he is still with you. Through photography a moment is preserved forever. It is photography that often keeps us in touch with our roots, with our past and whenever is necessary helps us to imaginatively recreate past moments. The memories that are preserved are our identity and when these memories emerge in the present, they should be used for the purpose of knowledge and evolution. But beware of the pseudomemory, as not everything is always as we think! This year’s theme of Photometria International Photography Festival, “Emerging Roots”, invites you to learn from your past, your roots and your memories. Highlight it, remember it and create a better present and an even better future. Let our emerging roots become levers for a better world.
