Echoes

“I just wanted to photograph my god Vern standing next to his new car (a Hudson) on a clear day. I just focused on him and the car. However, the photo (unintentionally) contained some of Aunt Mary's laundry and Bo Jack the dog by a fence, a row of begonias, seventy-eight trees and a million pebbles in the road. I realized that photography is a generous medium.” (Gallassi 2005, p. 14) Continuing the story from where the American photographer Lee Friedlander leaves it, the participants in the photography workshop started the production of their works, almost from a common starting point. No or no knowledge of the photographic medium necessary, but unspecified need for experimentation. A common feature was the search for the authentic thrill provided by the moment of creation. That is, the very process of photographing, the moment of exiting from zero, which in the end is nothing more than a demand for life. In the group exhibition Echoes, each individual work acts as the primary sound that causes the anti-lament, i.e. a baton of sounds or even life. Editing: Yannis Zindrilis
